Mistletoe Lip Balm Cover
Mistletoe Lip Balm Cover by Grandma Marilyn's Instant Access!
With Christmas on the way, I just couldn't pass up making a wonderful lip balm cover with mistletoe on it. Change the colors of the background to match your favorite color. My husband suggested that it would look gorgeous with a black background.

This cover will go over a Burt’s Bees Lip Balm, Lip Smackers and other lip balms.

Mistletoe has been in folklore and mythology since the 13th century.  In mythology, it stood for the devine male essence.  Then when Christianity came to Europe, both the mythological and Christian meanings were mixed.  This is where the practice of a couple standing under the mistletoe around Christmas time had to kiss.  The very first time this happened, which is documented, was the 16th century.

This pattern was beaded by my Bead Angel, Terri Ettling-Shell.  She did another great job of beading for me.

Cherokee Rose Lip Balm Cover

Cherokee Rose Lip Balm Cover by Grandma Marilyn's Instant Access!
My Bead Angel, Pat Tipton aka Mama Hen, suggested that I go ahead and use her pattern to make a lighter cover for my customers. Well, I went one step further and created a whole accessory set. Here is the lip balm cover. Hope you enjoy mine and Pat's combined efforts.

This cover will go over a Burt’s Bees Lip Balm, Lip Smackers and other lip balms.

Pat beaded up this beauty also. She did a wonderful job on both the testing of the pattern and beading it up.

Legend of the Cherokee Rose
When the Trail of Tears started in 1838, the mothers of the Cherokee were grieving and crying so much, they were unable to help their children survive the journey. The elders prayed for a sign that would lift the mother’s spirits to give them strength. The next day a beautiful rose began to grow where each of the mother’s tears fell. The rose is white for their tears; a gold center represents the gold taken from Cherokee lands, and seven leaves on each stem for the seven Cherokee clans. The wild Cherokee Rose grows along the route of the Trail of Tears into eastern Oklahoma today.
